Private health insurance company eHealth announced plans on Monday to establish a new headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana. According to PR Newswire, the new office will serve as the company’s Eastern U.S. Technology and Operations Headquarters while maintaining California as its main corporate headquarters.
“I’d like to offer my sincere thanks to Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, Secretary of Commerce Jim Schellinger, and Indianapolis mayor, Joe Hogsett for the welcome they have provided us,” said eHealth CEO Scott Flanders during a ribbon-cutting event held on Monday.
“As we expand our Medicare business, our new Indianapolis facility will house an important part of eHealth’s technology team and a significant number of licensed Medicare agents to help eHealth customers find the best coverage for their needs,” he added.
The California-based company has also announced plans to create up to 500 high-wage jobs by the end of 2023. To date, it has already hired 125 Hoosiers on Indianapolis’ north side.

First established in 1997, eHealth has served as a private online health insurance exchange. In 1998, the company became the first to offer health insurance policy online. It currently has a 1,100-strong team and has already insured over 5 million people.
“As an Indiana native myself, the acquisition of this new Indianapolis facility feels a lot like coming home. The Hoosier state is a great environment for business and a growing tech hub, and the city has a lot to offer in terms of local talent.
