Wells Fargo customers in all parts of the United States are experiencing major outrage as ATMs, money transfers, online banking system and credit cards are all down due to systems issues this Feb. 8, 2019.
Many customers are unable to pay using their cards and cannot access their online banking because of the system shutdown and have been affecting their routine.
Because of the nonstop complaints of customers, Wells Fargo has released a statement saying, “We’re experiencing system issues due to a power shutdown at one of our facilities, initiated after smoke was detected following routine maintenance. We’re working to restore services as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
According to KULR-TV Montana who reported the incident, “the issue roots from a fire at a server farm located in Shoreview, Minnesota. As a result, servers had to be shut down.”
This isn’t the first time that Wells Fargo has caused major outrage among its customers. Last year, the bank has been fined $1B for insurance and mortgage abuse. In 2018, a series of complaints from customers are recorded, saying they are locked out of their own accounts.
Wells Fargo has been in the hot seat since 2016. According to an article published by CNN, activists organized protests slamming the bank due to abuses and more inconveniences brought by system issues. On April 2018, Wells Fargo was involved in a scandal wherein fake accounts are disclosed and is lambasted for their ‘terrible business practices.”
