New York to Investigate Trump Organization, Issues Subpoena

The state of New York sent out a subpoena to Aon Plc, the insurance broker of the Trump Organization. The subpoena was sent on Monday by NYC regulators following the issue that United States President Donald Trump provided fake values to blow up his assets.

Aon Plc, the global insurance broker and risk management firm working with the Trump family business, is required by the New York State Department to submit documents and other financial statements that deal with the president and his organization, reports Reuters. These documents date back to 2009 until the present.

According to CNN, Donna Mirandola, the spokeswoman for Aon, confirmed that their company received the subpoena for records last Tuesday. While the company refuses to further expound on the controversy they are in, they intend to fully cooperate with “all the regulatory bodies” involved in the matter, notes CNN. Similarly, a lawyer/representative from the Trump Organization declined to provide a comment.

A former lawyer of the president, Michael Cohen, told the Congress that the president exaggerated the total amount and value of his assets to his insurance companies, allowing him to borrow money.

Based on the reports provided by CNBC, Cohen has been cooperating with the authorities, including federal and state powers. He will be serving 3 years in prison, with some of his works being related to working under the president.

While the case will be handled primarily by the Department of Financial Services (DFS), state prosecutors will be working closely with the DFS regarding the matter.
